Enfield No. 2 Mk 1 Revolver Restoration
Restoration Project
The Enfield No.2 was a British top-break revolver using the .38/200 round manufactured from 1932 to 1957. The museum purchased the revolver with obvious parts like the lanyard ring and hammer missing.

The revolver ordered was obviously missing the lanyard ring so it too was ordered. It arrived just ahead of the revolver.

The existing grip's screw was frozen and the nut side was no longer attached to the grip. Consequently, turning the screw would simply spin the nut and not withdraw. I tried clamping the nut side but that would not help. I also tried cutting a slot to allow me to hold the nut down but no success there. I eventually decide to drill out the screw. Luckily I was able to find replacement grips with screw since the original grips and screw would now no longer function.

With the grips removed, I turned my attention to the reason why the lanyard ring would not stay in place. The roll pin that slips passed the narrow part of the lanyard ring was warn and fused to the frame. I had to drill it out in order to insert a new roll pin.

A new roll pin was inserted into the drilled out hole and I verified that it would hold the lanyard ring. I used a clamp to push it through to the other side. The grips have a small hole to allow the roll pin to settle into it. I checked and it fit perfectly. I completed the work by inserting the grip screw.
